Standard Assessment Procedure Calculations (SAP Calculations) are used to assess the energy performance of dwellings. They are a Government approved method and help deliver many of their energy and environmental policy objectives. Whilst SAP calculations are typically required for new build projects, they may also be required for extensions and conversions.
Home builders and developers must obtain a ‘PASS’ on their SAP Calculation in order to comply with current UK regulations. If the calculation doesn’t meet this standard, Building Control will not be able to approve the development. SAP calculations can be used in the design stage of new dwellings because they can help to shape and improve the energy efficiency of a property. This can help to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions in the long run.
